MURFREESBORO — Shelbyville Central’s bid to the TSSAA state tournament fell a goal short at Siegel in a 1-0 loss in the Sectional round on Saturday evening.
After a scoreless first half, Ellie Walker scored the lone goal of the game with 23:48 left to play.
The Eaglettes (8-8) had a few scoring opportunities down the stretch but couldn’t find the back of the net.
“I’m very proud of this team. We were about to do something that has only been done twice now in the history of the program and that’s play for a chance to go to the state tournament,” Eaglette coach Casey Curry said.
“We came up just a little short, but the future of this program is going in the right direction.”
The Eaglettes finished runner-up in the region after a 5-0 loss at Franklin County on Thursday night.
