Lady Champs Golf Wins Program's First Ever State Championship

After day two of competition, the Cascade Lady Champions have won the program’s first ever TSSAA Division 1 Class A State Championship on Tuesday afternoon in Sevierville over second-place Stewart County with a final team score of 350 (+22).

A dominant performance from Anna Clanton, Tatyana Greene, and Sara Hall led the Lady Champions to a 10-stroke victory as a team while Greene and Clanton finished in 3rd and 4th place, respectively. Greene shot a 149 (+9) and Clanton shot a 153 (+13) to finish behind Westview’s Maddie Gray and Stewart County’s Shelby Smith who both shot a 148 (+8) over the two days. Smith took home the individual state championship after a one-hole playoff. 

Holding a three-stroke lead after Monday’s first round, the Lady Champions came back on Tuesday morning  and out-shot Stewart County by seven strokes to clinch a place in program history.

After day one of competition, the Cascade Lady Champions sit atop the team leaderboard four strokes ahead of second-place Stewart County and 14 strokes ahead of third-place Signal Mountain.

Meanwhile, on the individual side of things, Cascade’s Tatyana Greene ends day one in second place behind Westview’s Maddie Gray while Anna Clanton is not far behind in a tie for third place with Summertown’s Ella Busby and Stewart County’s Natalee Wyatt.
