FAYETTEVILLE CITY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT RESPONDS

According to a Bedford County Sheriff's Department report,  online conversations have been going on with Bedford County middle school students and some Fayetteville City students during the month of August. One Fayetteville student in particular, the report from Aug. 14 notes, took the chatting too far and apparently posted a video with a gun, stating that he would "shoot up the bus" when they played them next. That video, the BCSO report states, has since been deleted.

Bedford County School System said today it plans to send a comment to the  T-G on this matter.

Fayetteville City Schools Superintendent Eric Jones told the T-G this morning, "Our Fayetteville Middle School administration was made aware of a social media threat which was allegedly made by some of our students. The matter is under investigation.
We want to make assurances that the situation is being handled in accordance with the laws of the State of Tennessee as well as our School Board Policies.
We take all such matters very seriously and follow strict safety protocols to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved. We appreciate our students, staff, parents, friends, and neighbors for their continued support in keeping FMS a safe and caring learning environment."
