Support veterans at event on public square, Crawl, Walk, Run

Veteran Dave Rogers worked the aftermath of 9/11. He’s now a disabled veteran.
But he has no regrets.
He’s also organized a pretty major event for the veterans of this community.
On this week we commemorate 9/11, Dave would like to encourage the community to come out and show its patriotism by supporting the Crawl, Walk, Run Job and Veteran Resource Fair on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the public square.
Dave says he’s been there. He remembers well after his service “couch surfing” for a while.
This is why he is working with this event which is aimed at giving veterans the resources they need to live a productive, civilian life.
A Korean veteran once said of Dave Rogers, “Dave has always been dedicated to helping veterans.”
He helped many veterans receive meals while living in New York and during the pandemic. As well, he’s also been about veteran legislation.
Dave will be there with “Cooking with a Veteran” as well. He has authored several cookbooks over the last couple of years.
Set for the event up will start promptly at 8 am. Vendors are asked to be set up and ready to go by 9:45 a.m.
All vendors are asked to please park off of the square after setting up so veterans can park close to the event.
The resource fair opens at 10 a.m. with flags by Tullahoma HS MCJROTC. The pledge will be conducted by Scout Troop 699. The National Anthem will be presented by a student.
Guest speakers will include State Sen. Shane Reeves, Bedford County District 5 Commissioner Scott Johnson, Shelbyville Bedford Chamber President Dana Rodriguez and a Humana Representative.
Music during the event will be presented by Southern Klass.
Thanks to the support, sponsorship and donations, 100 veterans will receive lunch; 75 veterans will receive gifts and gift cards; 100 will be given free flu shots; 100 veterans will get grocery bags; 50 veterans will receive trims for their dog; 65 veterans will get grocery shopping cards valued at $100.
“This is not to mention the veterans who will get jobs . . . help with resumes,” Rogers said.
In addition, they can connect with the VA, businesses and organizations with resources to offer.
“We hope that those who cannot attend will spread the word, and let veterans know there is a place for them to get help.”
