Juneteenth celebrated Saturday, June 15, on square

The annual Juneteenth program will be held at the historic courthouse on the public square on Saturday, June 15. (The national observance falls on Wednesday, June 19.) City and County offices are closed that day.
The event is co-sponsored by Gilliland Historical Resource Center, Inc., and the Rosenwald Rec and Community Center. This year’s theme is, “A Day About Freedom.” A parade starts at 10 a.m. (Line up at 9.) Opening ceremonies are at 11 a.m.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be arts and crafts and musical entertainment.
The awards ceremony for best in parade and coloring page will begin at 1 p.m.
