Burton Louis Orrell, age 82, passed from this life at his home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 after an extended illness.
Born March 15, 1941, in Unionville, TN. Burton was the son of the late L.S. & Elizabeth Cartwright Orrell.
Burton was a graduate of Community High School Class of 1959. After graduation, he bought Roadway Materials Trucking Company, and later was co-owner of Celebration City Motors. He retired in 1996 at the age of 55. He was married on June 1, 1962, to Peggy Faris; together they had two children, Tammy and Timmy. He loved racing with his son, enjoyed doing yardwork for himself and neighbors, watching all sports and attending anything his family was involved in. One of his favorite accomplishments was being president of the Shelbyville Little Leagues, where he formed many long-lasting relationships with players, coaches and their families. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a valued member of the Bedford County community and a dear friend to many.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Faris Orrell; children, Tammy (David) Crowell, Timmy (Shelia) Orrell both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Josh (Brandi) Crowell, Chelsey (Zack) Gregory, Sam Orrell, Hayley Roark, Conner Roark; great grandchildren, Olivia Crowell, Sarah Cate Gregory and Lucy Gregory; sister, Ann Orrell Clanton; along with many nieces and nephews, and also many “grand-dogs”.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Shelbyville with Pastor Jeff Rasnick officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation with the family will be held prior to funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, at First Baptist Church.
