Champs’ foul line struggles costly at Lincoln Co.

FAYETTEVILLE — After winning on back-to-back nights early in the week, the Cascade Champions (8-3) traveled to Lincoln County on Friday night for a non-district clash with the Falcons where they were handed a narrow 56-52 loss. 
Lincoln County (8-3) opened up the contest with a 13-point first quarter led by Eric Greenwood’s eight points.
Cascade struggled at the charity stripe started in the first quarter, shooting 3-6 from the line for a 50 % clip. 
After only scoring seven points to open the game, Cascade responded for 15 points in the second quarter behind Justis Carter’s eight-point effort. 
Carter went on to score eight more in the third quarter, but was held scoreless in the final frame.
He finished with 19 points on the night. 
Lucas Clanton joined Carter as the only Champions in double digits with 11 points. 
Owen Sandlin, Eli Ogle, and Greenwood all reached double-digits for the Falcons with 17, 11, and 16, respectively. 
Sandlin was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line, contributing to Lincoln County’s 8-12 total for a 66 percent clip. 
The Champions reached the charity strike 19 times on the night, converting 12 of those tries for a 63 percent clip.
