Davis Seeks Re-election as Bedford County Trustee

Tonya Davis has officially announced her candidacy for re-election as Bedford County Trustee in the May 5 Republican Primary.

The Trustee office serves as the County’s bank and is crucial to the County’s fiscal well-being. The office bears the responsibility of collecting all County property taxes. In addition all revenues and expenditures of the County are handled and accounted for by this office and investing idle County funds.

A Bedford County native, Davis brings 16 years of experience as a Certified Public Administrator through the University of Tennessee and has a Certification in the Local Government Leadership Program.

Davis is an active member of the Tennessee Trustee Association, serving as Middle Tn. President in 2015 and 2019. She served as President in 2020 of the TCTA in all three regions in which she represented Middle, East and West serving all 95 Counties. Davis, an active member of the County Officials Association of Tennessee has served 4 years on the Board and also serves on the Tennessee Association of Property Tax Professionals.

Davis is a member of the Shelbyville Woman’s Club and is currently serving on the Shelbyville-Bedford County Senior Citizens Center Board. She is the past President of Shelbyville-Bedford County Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Bedford. She has also served as chair of the Chamber’s Economic Development and Tourism Division and served on the United Way Board.

Davis received the 2019 Trustee of the Year in the Middle Tn. Division. She was presented in 2020 the State of Tennessee Outstanding Trustee of the Year Award in recognition of exemplary service to the State of Tennessee and to the citizens of Bedford County. In 2021 Davis was honored with an award from the County Officials Association of Tennessee (COATS) for her exemplary service as President of the Trustee’s Association. She is a Paul Harris Fellow award recipient through Rotary International. Davis received the State Governor’s Volunteer Star Award for outstanding Community service and received the Bedford County Good Scout Award from the Middle Tennessee Council of Boy Scouts of America.

Davis and her husband, Michael, a retired Shelbyville Police Department Lieutenant, have 2 children and 8 grandchildren. Davis is a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
