Letter to the editor for Tuesday, March 1

Dear Editor:

In Bedford County I have seen the Let’s Go Brandon signs, which is code for a vulgar slogan; flags on the back of pickup trucks waving a swear word against President Biden and the 2024 former President’s yard signs, even though the election is 3 years away.

The person I voted for President did not take $100 million from Russian Oligarchs in shady real estate deals; hire as his campaign manager (Manafort) the person who worked for Putin to install a pro-Russian president in Ukraine, who then was convicted of 8 felonies, thrown in prison – then pardoned by the former President; try to dismantle NATO; insult multiple US allies heads of states, while praising autocrats; hold hostage weapons that were to be delivered to Ukraine, so he could get dirt on Biden; give Lavrov (the Russian foreign minister) during a White House meeting top secret information; state that Putin was a genius as he was invading Ukraine - which along with his former Secretary of State comments (Pompeo) is now being used by Russian propagandists; support a US Congresswoman, who spoke this past weekend to a group of white nationalists, that during their meeting applauded Putin and Russia (her Congressional District is next to ours) and finally try to overthrow our government to install himself as dictator.

The person who carried over 70% of the vote in this county for President, did all of the above. So as several Bedford Countians this past weekend offered prayers for Ukraine; maybe you should reevaluate just what you are for.

I for one do not want to live in a dictatorship the former President and his supporters would instill upon us. I never will take an oath of loyalty to any government official. I agree with one thing that most Republicans believe – if the former President was still in office, there would not be a war in Ukraine. Correct, the former President would have given Ukraine to Putin – on a silver platter, without firing a shot.

Those Let’s Go Brandon signs signal a support for the former President and all the harm he can bring to us. Ukrainians do not care about Republicans owning the libs, when their lives are at stake.
