SHELBYVILLE — Shelbyville Central’s Golden Eagles closed out the regular season on Monday with a 9-5 win over visiting Lawrence County in a non-district clash on Senior Night.
Five Golden Eagle seniors were honored before the game and their impact on this team will not go unnoticed.
“Any time you can get a win on Senior Night, it is a good win. These seniors are a special group of young men that have worked tirelessly to get our program back on track,” Shelbyville Central coach Chase Jones said.
“Each of them, Caden Thomas, Marquis Wilson, Jaquai Beverly, Caleb Molder, and Ahmad Coats will be missed after this season. I am very excited to see what the future holds for each of them.”
The Eagles (14-16) scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning then matched or bettered any run the Wildcats scored from that point.
Shelbyville Central collected 14 hits led by Nick Johnson with a double, two singles and three RBIs.
William Bobo, Caleb Molder and Marquis Wilson each added two singles.
Wilson got the win on the mound with relief appearances by Molder and Bobo.
Alex Bedford blasted a home run and double to lease Lawrence County at the plate. Logan Clayton added three singles.
