Edwin Crowell “Ed” Hoover

Edwin Crowell “Ed” Hoover, 85, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022.  
He was born on December 10, 1936 in Shelbyville, Tennessee, the second son of William Franklin Hoover, Sr. and Allie Crowell Hoover, and the brother of William Franklin Hoover, Jr.  Ed was pre-deceased by both parents and his brother.
After graduating from Central High School in Shelbyville, Ed attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering. At Vandy he was a member of Pershing Rifles and Scabbard and Blade and the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. At graduation Ed was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U. S. Army.  After a short term in the Army, he became affiliated with Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Toledo, Ohio and Vineland, New Jersey.  A career change moved him to the banking industry in Memphis and later to New Orleans.  He became a publisher of New Orleans Cityguide, a restaurant and entertainment guidebook, then ended his active career as an agent with Latter and Blum Realty.
Survivors include his beloved long-term partner, Bonnie Theresa Morales, and two nieces, Billie Ann Hardy, of Gillette, Wyoming, and Cathey Cox, of Russelville, Kentucky, as well as a large number of cousins and friends.  Visitation and celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11:30 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70124.  Interment will be private.
