Elizabeth Bell Smith Blackburn, 84, passed away Monday, November 28, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Elizabeth was a native to Bedford County born on March 27, 1938, to the late Charles Raymond and Audrey Molder Smith. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Charles R. Smith, Jr.
In the words of her husband of 66 years…
“She was a good Christian woman – she read her Bible every morning just like her mother did. She was a good wife, a good mother and a good Me Maw. She was a hard worker – she made curtains for a lot of people. She was a good cook – even though I didn’t give her a lot to work with when we first got married. She kept our house clean – we even had to sweep and clean up before the therapist came each week. We argued some, but got over it quick. The secret was let her have what she wanted and don’t tell her no. She was a GOOD one, I know she is in a better place and I’m going to miss her.”
She is survived by: loving husband of 66 years, Harold “Pete” Blackburn; daughter, Beth (Jeff) Faulk; son, David Blackburn; grandchildren, Morgan Burks, Devin Faulk, Zak (Taylor) Faulk, Luke (Kimme) Faulk, and Caleb Blackburn; great-grandchildren, Laken and Jaxon Faulk, Braxton and Scarlett Faulk, and Henley Blackburn; brother, Donnie (Debbie) Smith of Georgia; sister-in-law, Marie Blackburn; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Jeff Faulk officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Unionville.
Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 110 Hopkins Bridge Road, Unionville, TN 37180.
Doak-Howell Funeral Home is serving the family.
