A local church, working with Bedford County Veterans Council, has made it possible for Bedford County Veterans Services to have a new vehicle.
Experience Community Shelbyville, after a recent fundraiser, donated $10,000 to the Veterans Council, which is made up of local veterans organizations. The council voted to use the money towards a new vehicle for the county Veterans Services office. Since that time, the office's previous vehicle has gone out of service, so this new vehicle, a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse LT, will replace it. The vehicle is used to transport veterans to and from medical appointments.
Bedford County government made up the difference between the donation and the purchase price of the vehicle, which will be county-owned.
The Veterans Service Office is located in the basement of the historic Bedford County Courthouse on the Shelbyville square. For more information, call 931-685-4838 or go to https://www.bedfordcountytn.gov/departments/veterans_services.php
