SIGNAL MOUNTAIN - A season that saw the Community Vikings appear in the school's first ever region game ended Tuesday night as the Signal Mountain Eagles shut out the Vikings 5-0 in the Region 3-A soccer semifinals.

Signal Mountain, the District 5-A champion, used some early Viking mistakes to jump out to an early lead and scored all of its goals in the first half.

Community (3-6-3) rebounded to keep the Eagles off the board in the second half, but the Signal Mountain defense kept the Vikings scoreless for the entire 80 minutes.

"Signal Mountain did a great job slowing us down," Coach Cody Pierce of the Vikings said.

Pierce was happy with the success of his 2021 history-making squad.

"I am proud of the guys for reaching the district championship this year," Pierce said. "They really played well together toward the end of the season."

It was the final game for seniors Gage Ralston, David Perez, and McCade Miller.

"Our seniors will be missed," Pierce said. "But the rest of the team had a lot of game experience this year so the future is bright if they continue to work hard."

The Vikings are set to return 12 underclassmen and one junior next season.
