Born November 11, 1940, in Bell Buckle he was the son of the late John Edward and Robbie Ellen Parker. He was a proud graduate of the Bell Buckle High School class of 1958. After completing high school, he married the love of his life (Dixie Parker) and became a factory worker and retired from Eaton Corporation of Shelbyville after 30-plus years. He enjoyed playing sports and was a member of the legendary Shelbyville 76ers softball team where he was known for his high arching pitches. He was an avid quail hunter and coon hunter and was a master at training his dogs. He was a sure shot in the fields with his Browning Sweet 16 shotgun. One of his most notable accomplishments with his coon hounds came in 1991 where he won the UKC World Coon Hunt Bench Show Championship. Later in life he spent time farming, riding horses, and raising registered Charolais beef cattle. He truly enjoyed spending time with and taking care of his animals. George was a pillar in the Cascade community having been an active fan for many years. His earsplitting voice could often be heard cheering on the Champions as well as correcting the officials. His wit and humor made him the life of every party. He was a proud member of the 82 Market morning coffee club. His greatest love, however, was the love that he had for his family and especially his grandkids.
George was preceded in death by: wife, Dixie Featherstone Parker; parents, John Edward and Robbie Ellen Parker and sister, Judy Hudson.
Survivors include: Sons, Kenny (Kelly) Parker of Wartrace, David (Angie) Parker of Shelbyville; brothers, Sam Parker of Shelbyville and Howard Parker of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Lance, Aaron, Lauren, Caleb and Landon Parker; also, several nieces and nephews.
