H. Carlyle King, 90, of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. Minister Jeff Brown and Billy Webb will officiate. Visitation will begin at noon. A graveside service with military honors will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Born in Richmond, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Allen Benton King, Sr., and Annie Elizabeth Darnell King. Mr. King was also preceded in death by his son, H. Carlyle King, Jr., brothers, Elmer W. King and Allen Benton King, Jr., and a sister, Nina Ruth Dubois.
Mr. King is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bessie Walker King of Murfreesboro; sons, Roger King and his wife Sandra, and Rodney King and his wife Sandy, all of Bell Buckle; grandchildren, Alice (David) Dumm of Lexington, S.C., Roger Lynn King, Jr. of Bell Buckle, Ruth Anne (David) Estes of Auburntown, Karen (Jaime) Matlock, Lance (Susie) King, and Travis (Melody) King, all of Murfreesboro; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. King retired as Master Sergeant after 21 years from the U. S. Air Force Security Forces. He was a Korea, Vietnam, and Cold War Veteran. Mr. King was a member of Kingwood Church of Christ.
The family encourages that masks be worn, and social distancing practiced at all services.
