Jerry Junior Brown


Jerry Junior Brown, 78, of Shelbyville passed from this life Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center with family by his side.

Born February 15, 1943, in Fayetteville, Jerry was one of seven children of the late Mack and Willie Mae Thomas Brown and was preceded in death by: sons, Jerry Lex Brown, and Stacy Lynn Brown; brothers, Charles and James Thomas Brown; sisters, Dorothy Mae Bates, Inez Brown Currin, and Dean Brown Conner; and grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Brown and Jerry Lynn Brown.

Jerry grew up on a farm, and after school he worked several odd and end jobs before joining the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country during Vietnam. After his service he gained employment with Copperweld in Fayetteville. In his free time he enjoyed; tending to his yearly vegetable garden, maintaining family vehicles, and fishing for bass and catfish. He was a history buff and loved going on family vacations. He was a longtime faithful member of Victory Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife of 40 years, Shelia Brown; daughters, Angela Brown (Larry) Phelps of Fayetteville, and Regina Brown Teal of Petersburg; sons, Steven Brown of Shelbyville, Jonathan (Rachael) Brown of Shelbyville, and Robert (LeeAnn) Brown of Murfreesboro; sister, Marie Bolles of Chestnut Ridge Community; grandchildren, Cory (Amanda) Phelps, Travis Phelps, Chris Vanatta, Blake Teal, Isaac Brown, Conner Brown, Alisha Osland, Mackenzy Brown, and Gracie Brown; 3 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet "Gizmo".

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2021, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Pastor Lloyd Warren officiating. Burial will follow at the Booneville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 21, 2021, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
