Joe David McDowell, also known as Dave, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024, with his beloved wife by his side.
Dave was born January 25, 1957, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was an Air Force Veteran and devout Christian and will be missed by his wife of 10 years, Linda McDowell; son, Thomas McDowell; daughters, Taneesha (Joshua) Douglas, and Chasity (Joshua) Dorantes; and his brothers, Robert (Fran) McDowell and Kelly (April) McDowell. Dave is also survived by his nieces Kim Pettit, Karen McDowell, Beth McDowell; and nephews, Cody McDowell and Bob Pettit; along with a host of cousins, friends, and colleagues.
Dave had a passion for reading, movies, and golf. He was also dedicated to mentoring young people who had an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare technology. In 2016, he initiated a small group within the Greater Nashville Technology Council, called Healthcare Technology Associates.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joe Ellen McDowell; and uncles, Jack Holt, Charlie Holt, and Lewis Holt.
A Celebration of Life was held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024, in the chapel of Doak-Howell funeral Home with Pastor Michael A. Pope officiating.
Visitation with the family was held prior to services beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
