John W. Simpson, 84, of Wartrace went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 16, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Graveside Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 19th at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Brother Dave Brown and Brother Ron DeWitt officiating. There will be no public visitation prior to service. Family asks that masks be worn and social distancing practiced at the graveside service. Hillcrest Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John was born May 13, 1936 in Murfreesboro, TN to Eldridge Delmore and Estelle Simmons Simpson. He graduated Central High School of Murfreesboro in 1955. He married Dorothy Marie Vincion Simpson June 27, 1958. He began his mechanist apprenticeship at Middle Tennessee State University in 1958. His mechanist career included work on the Apollo program prior to founding S & A Machine, Inc. in 1979. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the 1957 World Championship Air Force basketball team.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by sisters, Leona Simpson Barrett and Daisy Simpson of Murfreesboro.

John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Marie Simpson and his children, Randy (Kathy) Simpson, Jeff (Sara "Kitty") Simpson, David (Michelle) Simpson, Dana (Mark) Barnes and Doug (Frances "Dink") Simpson; siblings, Allan (Polly) Simpson of Lakeland, Tn. and Nellie Simpson Cook of Calhoun, Ga.; grandchildren, who he loved "a bushel and a peck", Casey (Brooke) Simpson, Caitlin (Jordan) Casteel, Haylee Simpson, Lane (Dakota) Simpson, Taylor (Patrick) Haddock, Will Barnes, Cheyenne Simpson, Dakota Simpson, Tyler Sarvak, Samantha (Bryant) Galbreath, Daniel Moore, Josh Reed and Jamey (Sheena) Reed; great-grandchildren, Ainsley and Cason Simpson, Laken Harris and Tage Casteel, Jayce and Freyja Sarvak, Harris and Katherine Galbreath Austin Moore, Ariel Reed, Trennedy, Cora Parks, Jayden and Knox Reed and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or your choice of mission. The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to Dr. William Russell, Dr. Chris Marasco and staff.
