Karen Sue Conner, age 80, entered her eternal rest, Thursday, June 11. 2026.
Born in Belington, West Virginia, Karen spent much of her life in the community she called home. She and her husband, Howard, married on December 18, 1965 and built a life together in West Virginia, where they lived for over 30 years and raised their two children. Later, Karen and Howard moved to Shelbyville, Tennessee, to be closer to their family, and eventually settled in Athens, Alabama.
Karen was a woman of remarkable strength and independence. She was never afraid to stand up for what she believed was right and was known for her courage, determination, and unwavering sense of fairness. Intelligent and resourceful, she approached life's challenges with confidence and resilience.
Those who knew Karen will remember her infectious laughter and wonderful sense of humor. She found great joy in caring for others, especially through her cooking. Karen was well known for making sure no one ever left her home hungry. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a family celebration, or an ordinary day, her kitchen was always filled with delicious food, warm hospitality, and the love she poured into every meal. She enjoyed sharing stories, spending time with loved ones, and bringing smiles to those around her. Karen was also a dedicated and hardworking woman whose strong work ethic was evident throughout her life.
Above all, Karen cherished her family. Her love, guidance, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Karen is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Howard Conner; parents, Delbert Monroe and Daisy Flossie (Shaffer) Bolyard; and brothers, Everett Lou, Joesph Paul, Delbert Jr., Roger Lee, and Gary Lynn Bolyard. She leaves behind her son, Mike Conner; daughter, Amy Conner; and grandchildren, Marshall
and Owen Conner.
The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. Wednesday, June 17th at Feldhaus-Gowen-Smith Chapel 850 Union Street, Shelbyville TN. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. Perry Louden officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Willow Mount Cemetery.
