MURFREESBORO — Runs were tough to come by for the Cascade Lady Champions during a 9-2 loss on Monday night at MTCS.
Cascade plated two in the sixth, but was unable to match the firepower of the Lady Cougars throughout the game.
MTCS got off to a hot start, knocking in three in the bottom of the first and a fourth in the second inning.
The hosts added three in the fourth before Cascade rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to cut the score to 7-2.
In the sixth, Hannah Vandriver doubled to left to lead off the inning and was followed on base when Kyndal Bolden drew a walk to put two on with nobody out.
Caitlin Fannin cleared the bases with a two RBI single.
MTSC responded by recording three-straight outs to nix the Lady Champion rally and then plated two more runs in the bottom of the inning to hang on for the seven-run victory.
Fannin led the Lady Champs at the plate with a pair of hits, including a triple, and two RBIs, while Vandriver was 1-for-2 with a double.
Brianna Horn went the distance for Cascade and pitched six innings and allowed nine runs on 10 hits, only five of which were earned.
She also struck out six.
