Friday night’s non-district clash between the Lady Knights and the Cascade Lady Champions turned into an offensive slugfest, with the two teams combining for 31 hits and 30 runs.
In the end, the Lady Knights took advantage of a big second and fifth inning in a 19-11 win over Cascade.
Cascade struck first and plated seven runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Hannah Vandiver slugged a two-run homer to highlight the blowout first inning.
The Lady Knights responded with an even bigger second inning, knocking in 12 runs on nine hits in the inning.
The Lady Knights tacked on seven more in the fifth to pull ahead 19-7.
Cascade answered with a five-spot in the bottom of the fifth, largely in part to some timely hitting and savvy base running.
After clubbing a two-run blast in the first inning, Vandiver mashed a base-clearing, three RBI triple to account for the bulk of offense.
But Cascade was unable to complete the rally and went scoreless over the final two innings played.
The Lady Champions returned to action on Monday night, however results were unavailable by press time.
