Loy Jay “Pops” Sudberry, age 84, of Shelbyville, passed from this life Monday, December 12, 2022, at his home on after an extended illness.
A native of Bedford County, he was born November 7, 1938 to the late Danor L, Sr.  and Bunice Williams Sudberry. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by: his grandson, Michael Jay Sudberry; sisters, Serene Calahan, Charlene Mona Sudberry and Carry Mae Bernd; and brothers, Danor Sudberry, Jr., Doyle Sudberry, Dan Kay Sudberry and Garry Faye Sudberry.
“Pops” was a 1956 graduate of Community High School and worked in maintenance with Uniroyal and Calsonic before he retired. In his free time he enjoyed playing rook and in his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by: children, Tammie (Lonnie) Morrison of Mulberry and Todd (Jennifer) Sudberry of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Brandy (Jeremy) Wolfe, Ashley (J.C.) Mann, Hunter (Alexa Hamlett) Morrison, Brandi (Billy) Bunn, Tosha Sudberry, Tyler Sudberry and J.T. Sudberry, 14 great grandchildren; sister, Frances Carter of Shelbyville; and mother of his children, Becky Sue Sudberry of Shelbyville.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, December 15, at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Gray officiating.
