Michael Edward Lapsley of Wartrace, previously of Crossville, was born July 8, 1938, and passed away Jan. 22, 2024. He was born in Bronx, New York to Thomas Lapsley and Helen Koerner.
He was a retired Metropolitan Police officer, loved God, his family, playing golf, traveling and having breakfast with his veteran’s group on Wednesdays.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Lapsley; sons, Patrick Lapsley (Michelle), Michael Lapsley, daughters, Cathleen Lapsley, Michelle Myers (Rick); grandchildren, Dillon Thurman (Lindsay), Ashley Carter (Ethan), Haley Herbert and Kelly Herbert and special great grandson, Nathan Caruthers; and 7 great-grandchildren; step daughters, Rebecca Weaver (Barnie) of Alaska, Linda Poulan (Larry) of Florida and a step son, Michael Hogan (Libby) of Florida; and 4 step granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Koerner, father, Thomas Lapsley; wife Cathleen Lapsley; brother, Thomas Lapsley; sister Lynn; daughter, Patricia Thurman and grandson, Jace Myers.
A Celebration of Life will be Friday, March 15, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Crossville. The family asks that donations be made to Heroes-MPDC or C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police.)
