MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men's basketball team is set to travel to the Cayman Islands to take part in the 2025 Cayman Islands Classic as part of the team's 2025-26 non-conference schedule.
"We are looking forward to competing in the 2025 Cayman Islands Classic," said head coach Nick McDevitt. "We have great respect for the other programs in this event and understand the challenge that this set of games presents. It will help prepare us for the challenges that we will face in Conference USA play."
The Blue Raiders will be joined by McNeese State, who advanced to the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, George Washington and Murray State, who MTSU played last season in the Murphy Center. The tournament, hosted by Caymax Sports Ltd. will take place November 23-25 at the John Gray Gymnasium in George Town, Grand Cayman.
The event kicks off on Sunday, when Middle Tennessee will continue its second-longest rivalry in program history for the 147th meeting with the Murray State Racers at 6:30 p.m. CT. For the second game of the event, MTSU will go head-to-head with George Washington for the first time in program history, with the game tipping off at 4 p.m. Monday. The Blue Raiders will close out their tournament Tuesday at 4 p.m., facing off against McNeese State for the first time since 1988.
Past Cayman Islands Classic champions include Boston College (2024), Utah State (2023), Kansas State (2022), George Mason (2019) and Creighton (2018). Travel packages are now available for purchase, along with all-tournament and booster passes. For more details, visit www.caymanclassic.com.
