Ta'Mia Scott named CUSA Player of the Week

Following a pair of strong performances against Jax State and Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee guard Ta'Mia Scott was named the Conference USA Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Scott, a junior from Clarksville, Tennessee, picked up her third career weekly accolade and second of the season – she was previously named Player of the Week in 2023-24.

The standout guard tallied a career-high 30 points, a career-high 14 boards, an assist, a block and a steal in MTSU's 63-46 win over Jax State, where she went 11-of-16 from the field (68.7 percent), including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. She tallied 14 of the Blue Raiders' 20 points in the third quarter, where MTSU outscored Jax State 20-6.

She followed that performance up with 24 points, eight rebounds, an assist and a block in MTSU's 76-43 rout over Kennesaw State, where she went 9-of-16 from the field (56.2 percent), including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and 3-of-5 from the free throw line.

The Blue Raiders conclude their three-game home stand against WKU on Saturday, Feb. 15. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT. The game will air on the Blue Raider Network and broadcast on ESPN+.

We hope thousands of Blue Raiders across the midstate will join us to cheer on the Blue Raiders in the Glass House!

Men's Basketball heads to Bowling Green

The Middle Tennessee men's basketball team heads up the road to Bowling Green to mirror the women, taking on WKU inside E.A. Diddle Arena this Saturday at 7 p.m. Once again, I must commend both administrations for the start times for the 100 Miles of Hate series, allowing fans to attend both games, as I'll once again do this weekend!

The Blue Raiders are coming off a road split in CUSA play, holding on for a win at Kennesaw State on Saturday after dominating the first half against the Owls. Check out the highlights from the weekend below!

Jana Want named Freshman of the Week by CUSA

Freshman infielder Jana Want was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, February 10.

Over the five games at The Spring Games this past weekend, Want recorded a .563 batting average, a .632 on-base percentage, an .813 slugging percentage and a 1.445 OPS. All those marks were the best by a freshman in CUSA. Amongst all student-athletes in the conference with double-digit plate appearances, Want's on-base percentage ranks third in the conference, her batting average is sixth, her OPS is seventh and her slugging percentage is eighth.

The Blue Raiders picked up three wins over the weekend in Florida, where they'll return to action this weekend in a tournament hosted by Jacksonville and North Florida. They'll take on the Dolphins once and the Ospreys twice, as well as battling the UConn Huskies twice this weekend!

Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis, combine for home sweep on Sunday, set for more matches this weekend!

Men's and Women's Tennis combined for a Sunday sweep this past weekend, with the Men knocking off Arkansas and Eastern Kentucky and the women also taking down the Colonels.

"We are very proud of the guys and the way they competed throughout today's matches," assistant men's tennis coach Josh McDermott said. "The team did a great job making adjustments in practice and was able to execute what we had worked on, especially in doubles. We will continue to work hard toward our goals and ride this momentum into our next match against Oklahoma State this upcoming Friday."

"I am happy with the win today," Women's Tennis Head Coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall said. "As we get into the next stretch of matches, it is great to be able to hone some skills and continue to push for gradual improvement. I'm happy to see Sara Conde debut and get her first college win today. We are looking forward to keeping and continuing this momentum."

Both teams are in action this weekend at the Adams Tennis Complex off Old Fort Parkway. The men host Oklahoma State on Friday at 5 p.m., while the women host Belmont on Saturday (1 p.m.) and Murray State on Sunday (11 a.m.). Check out the promotions schedule for the week for all of MTSU Athletics for more!

ICYMI: Coach's Check-In with Women's Golf's Lauren Wamsley

I really enjoyed my chance to finally sit down with Coach Wamsley and chat about her first year so far with Middle Tennessee Women's Golf. There are lots of good nuggets in our conversation from how to build a culture as a new coach, challenges for players making the jump from juniors to college and much more!

Reed Blankenship, Super Bowl Champion!

Finally, by certainly not least, it was pretty cool seeing a player I covered when I first got to Middle Tennessee in 2021 shine on the biggest stage last night, when Reed Blankenship started Super Bowl LIX for Philadelphia Eagles, helping the Philly defense stifle the Kansas City Chiefs for a 40-22 win in New Orleans.

Blankenship became the 12th different Blue Raider to win a Super Bowl with the Eagles' win. It's also the sixth straight year a Blue Raider has won the Super Bowl as a member of the active roster or practice squad.
