MURFREESBORO — For three quarters, the Community Middle Viqueens struggled to settle into an offensive rhythm during Monday's makeup game at MTCS.
The Viqueens were held to single figures in the first three quarters and eventually dropped the 42-22 decision.
MTCS doubled up the Viqueens in the first quarter and led 8-4 by the end of the first frame, but the biggest disparity came in the second quarter.
The Lady Cougs charged ahead with nine more points, while Community was held to just two points—a field goal by Izzy Martinez.
Community trailed MTCS 17-8 at the half.
While MTCS tacked on 11 more in the third frame, Community did manage to rally for double figures in the fourth frame—an 11-point effort.
But even with the Viqueens' late charge, MTCS closed the game with 14 more points to secure the 20-point victory.
Three different Viqueens led the way with five points each, including Martinez, Brailey Whitehead and Stevie Dickenson.
Community will host MTCS on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Community 4 2 5 11 — 22
MTCS 8 9 11 14 — 42
