Robert “Bob” Landis, former Bedford County Schools board chair and long-time resident of Shelbyville, went to be with the Lord at the home of his daughter, Kathy Landis Evans, of Montana, on May 25, 2024.
A memorial service is planned for September at Cannon United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, where he was a long-time member. Mr. Landis requested to be cremated.
Mr. Landis, “Bob,” was known by many for his servant's heart. He was a Little League coach and involved in countless other volunteer activities in his church and community.
Mr. Landis was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was employed with Arnold Engineering Development Center for many years, prior to his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; brothers, G.B. Landis Jr., Jacob Morton, and sister, Grace Knox. He is survived by sons, Mike (Cassie) Landis, Dr. Scott (Pippa Browne) Landis; his daughter, Kathy (Simon) Evans; grandchildren, Karie (Frank), Casey (Tanya), Conrad, Carissa (Morry) and Maple; great-grandchildren, Nick, Hollie, Monroe, Phoenix, Berkeley and Olivia.
The family requests memorials be made to Cannon UMC, 1001 S. Cannon Blvd., Shelbyville, TN 37160.
