Rosita Sorensen

April 8, 2026

Posted

Rita Sorensen peacefully passed away at age of 100 on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
She loved music, dancing, animals, (especially her little dog Bentley) exercising, and practiced self-care. She was a firm believer that a woman should always look her best and be well dressed and presentable.
She was incredibly selfless and giving to her family, friends, and neighbors.
She was born in Puerto Rico on a Naval Base, raised in New York City, moved to Florida, and then spent her final years in Tennessee.
Over her lifetime she saw so many changes in the world and loved to share her stories. One of them going with her dad to see Babe Ruth play at Yankee Stadium. She would also speak of being glued to the radio with her family when President Roosevelt gave his famous infamy speech on 12-8-41.
She was the mother of 3 children, Ronald Sorensen, Darlene Sorensen Zamora, and Karen Sorensen; grandmother of 4, Kimberly, Eric, Jill, and Craig; and great grandmother to 3, Christian, Preston, and Madalyn.
Rosita was preceded in death by her husband, Simon B. Sorensen, whom she lost at a very young age, and by two of her adult children, Karen and Ronnie, whom she also sadly outlived.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out.
Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is honored to be serving the family of Rosita Sorensen.
