Administration at Cascade High School (CHS) was made aware on the evening of Wednesday, November 8, of a loss of one of their seniors. School officials reported that details of the death are currently unknown.
“We have made contact with the family and ask that their privacy be respected,” stated Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tammy Garrett. “Our hearts go out to this family as they deal with the nearly unbearable loss of a child.”
School personnel request that the public please refrain from sharing any information that is not confirmed.
“We have hard days ahead of us,” commented Cascade High School Principal Sandy Sorrells. “We need to lean on one another for support and for encouragement.”
School counselors, central office staff and other support teams were immediately put in place at CHS with counselors brought in from other schools in the system to help. Bedford County Schools Social and Emotional Learning and Mental Health Coordinator Lindsay Wiley is also at CHS.
“We want this family, our students and our school community to know they are not alone,” said Garrett. “We are here to support them in whatever capacity we possibly can."
