Serious accident snarls traffic

The Bedford County Fire Department and EMS were on scene of a serious injury accident at Hwy 41A and Rippy Ridge Road.

Initial units on scene reported two vehicles with heavy damage and entrapment. Three vehicles total were reported to have been involved. An active extrication went underway and the assistance of a medical helicopter had been requested. They also requested three ambulances and with one having been transported to Vanderbilt-Nashville. 
 
Hwy 41A was shut down in both directions while crews set up the landing zone.
 
No further information has been released at this time.
