I expect some rain to be moving through our area Saturday night but then a warming trend begins on Sunday as we hit 50 degrees and mid to upper 50s could be coming by Tuesday and Wednesday. A strong cold front is expected to move in on Christmas Eve and bring some showers and possibly snowflakes could be coming on Christmas Eve or even Christmas day so keep your fingers crossed!...

Winter arrives Monday at 4:02 a.m. so I thought I would talk about the coldest temperatures we have ever experienced in this area.
January 21, 1985 the Shelbyville area dropped to 20 below zero. Woodbury dropped to -28. The coldest ever observed in Tennessee was -32 below on December 30, 1917 in Mountain City in extreme northeast Tennessee.
The United States record is -70 in Rogers Pass, Montana in 1954. The lowest temperature ever directly recorded at ground level on Earth is 129 below zero at the Soviet Vostok Station in Antarctica on July 21, 1983.
Merry Christmas and if you have any weather questions you can reach me at weather1@charter.net.
