TCAT Shelbyville has been named one of America’s Top 250 Vocational Schools for 2025, by USA Today, joining 16 other Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology on the national list.
The ranking, created in partnership with market research firm Statista, evaluated schools nationwide on graduation rates, graduate salaries, return on investment, social mobility and diversity. Tennessee placed fourth among all states for the number of schools selected, following California, Florida and Texas.
Other Tennessee TCATs recognized include Athens, Crump, Dickson, Elizabethton, Harriman, Hartsville, Jacksboro, Jackson, Livingston, McKenzie (now part of TCAT Henry/Carroll), McMinnville, Memphis, Morristown, Nashville, Northwest and Upper Cumberland (formerly TCAT Crossville).
Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology are known for their affordable tuition, diverse program offerings, strong graduation and job placement rates and licensure success. Many students also take part in state initiatives such as Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect, which provide tuition-free opportunities for eligible high school graduates and adults returning to higher education.
As part of The College System of Tennessee, governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents, TCAT campuses have received more than $1.5 billion in statewide investments in new facilities and advanced training technology.
TBR Chancellor Flora W. Tydings said the recognition affirms the role of TCATs in preparing students for in-demand careers. “The USA Today research confirms what we have known for years: Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology like TCAT Shelbyville are among the best institutions for high-quality career and technical education in the country. They are the most affordable and effective option for students pursuing in-demand careers,” she said.
TCAT Shelbyville provides career training programs designed to equip graduates with the skills needed to succeed in growing industries.
