It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas Thompson, who departed this life on January 24, 2026, at the age of 55.
Born on July 4, 1970, Thomas was a beloved son, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many with his infectious spirit and unwavering kindness. Thomas was raised in Shelbyville, Tennessee, where he attended Central High School. He had a passion for mechanics, working primarily on Kubotas, but his expertise extended to anything that had wheels. His dedication to his craft and his generous nature endeared him to colleagues and friends alike.
Thomas was known for his infectious laughter, always smiling, joking, and ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. An avid outdoorsman, Thomas cherished the moments he spent outdoors and found joy in working on racecars for Duck River. His enthusiasm for life and deep love for his family was evident in everything he did. Family gatherings were often filled with his laughter and energy, creating cherished memories for all who knew him. Thomas is survived by his devoted mother, Marcia Perry of Shelbyville, Tennessee; his brother, Hamilton Arndt; his sisters, Crystal Thompson and Teresa Thompson Merlo, also of Shelbyville; his step-brother, Bradley Perry of Unionville; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members, including an aunt and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Gail Thompson; his grandparents, Cecil and Pearl Thompson, Geneva R. Williams, and Aubrey Williams; as well as his brother Robert Lee Thompson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 8, at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Visitation with family will commence at 1:00 PM and will be followed by a service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Brother Jonathan Curry.
Family and friends are invited to gather and share their memories of a cherished soul who will be greatly missed. In Thomas’s memory, let us reflect on the joy he brought into our lives and honor his spirit by practicing kindness, generosity, and a love for laughter as he did. He may have left this world, but the legacy he built in the hearts of many lives on eternally.
