Maurice David Bowling, 77, of Shelbyville, died August 22, 2026.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday, August 27th, at Hillcrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Loyd Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1:30 P.M.
He was born May 6, 1949, in Bedford County, to the late Benjamin "Bennie" Bowling and Eliza Ann Nowlin Bowling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Melissa Lucille Bowling and Judy Ann Bowling; a brother, Richard Bowling; and a sister, Gail Bowling.
Maurice is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Jernigan Bowling; daughter, Desiree Bowling, sisters, Barbara Tedder, Louise (Ronnie) Bivvins; and a brother, Dennis Bowling, all of Shelbyville.
He graduated from Shelbyville Central High School in 1967. Maurice served in the United States Navy Reserve; he helped start the W.B.T.S. Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Bedford County Utility Board. He was a retired truck driver for Roadway Express, a farmer and a member of Victory Baptist Church of Shelbyville.
