LEWISBURG - In a game filled with plenty of offense, it was the Community Viqueens that came up just short in a 6-5 District 12-AA loss at Marshall County on Monday night.
The Purple and Gold out-hit the Tigerettes, 12-11 and were led by a three-hit night by Riley Davis.
While Davis accounted for three singles, it was a first-inning home run that highlighted the night for senior Brianna Beech in her final game with the Viqueens.
Beech's blast put Community on top in the first frame, but Marshall County answered by plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning.
Community went on to tie the game in the third frame, once again when Beech drove in a run, scoring Abbi Murrill.
As before, Marshall County plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 lead.
The seesaw affair continued with a three-run fifth inning when Abby Brown drove in a pair of runs on a two RBI double to once again tie the game.
The Purple and Gold took a one-run lead with a RBI single by Abby Brown.
That lead didn't hold as Marshall County answered with two more runs in the bottom of the frame to once again rally for the one-run lead.
The one-run lead held through the remainder of the contest.
Hailey Farrar and Emma Bently split work from the pitcher's circle, with Farrar going 5 1/3 innings.
She gave up 11 hits and struck out two, while Bently pitched the final 2/3 inning and didn't allow a hit.
