NOLENSVILLE - The Community Vikings were only outhit four to three in their District 12-AA semifinal tournament game against the Nolensville Knights Friday night, but the Knights were the beneficiaries of eight Viking walks and two errors and finished with a 6-1 win.

The Knights scored first in the opening inning.

Nolensville had just one hit, but three Viking walks and an error were costly as the Knights sent seven batters to the plate and took a 4-0 lead.

Nolensville upped its lead to 5-0 with an unearned run in the second inning.

Meanwhile, Community (21-13) had its hands full trying to solve the pitching of Knight standout Ethan McElvain and a dark area around home plate caused by lights that were not working.

After a discussion, the game continued without any interruption.

The Vikings rallied for its lone run in the fourth inning.

After two were out, Evan Petrie walked and Jackson Bailey singled.

Corey Paterick drilled an RBI-single to score Petrie and cut the Knight lead to 5-1.

Nolensville used a wild pitch to score its final run in the bottom of the fifth and increase its lead to 6-1.

Petrie singled to lead off the seventh, but McElvain struck out the side to end the game.

There were 25 strikeouts in the game as McElvain struck out 14 and walked two to lead the Knights.

Dylan Norris started on the mound for the Vikings with Jacob Hawkins and Bailey in relief.

The three Viking pitchers accounted for 11 strikeouts.
