MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles (18-5, 3-3) used a five-run third inning to take down the Murfreesboro Central Magnet Tigers (9-10, 2-4) on the road, 9-5, for the second time in three attempts this season.

Palmer Edwards got the start on the mound for Shelbyville, but he only made it through 2.0 innings of work before getting pulled for Michael Estrada. Edwards gave up four runs, two earned, on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts on 47 pitches. Estrada came on to start the third inning, throwing 3.0 innings and giving up just a single run on one hit, one walk, and four strikeouts on 53 pitches. Brody Lovvorn pitched the final 2.0 innings, allowing just a pair of hits while striking out one batter on 19 pitches.

For Central Magnet, John Roth got the start, lasting 3.0 innings while giving up six runs, one earned, on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts on 94 pitches. Benson Reavis came on in relief, throwing 2.0 innings and giving up three earned runs on four hits and two walks with zero strikeouts on 36 pitches. The Tigers used two more pitchers to record the final six outs without allowing a single run.

Central Magnet actually jumped out to a 4-1 lead entering the third inning following a pair of two-run innings. Shelbyville opened the game with a run of their own, then the Tigers responded.

Then, in the top half of the third, the Golden Eagles offense, aided by some defensive errors from the hosts, plated five runs in the frame to take a 6-4 lead. Estrada then entered on the mound, and he threw a pair of shutout innings to settle things down for the visitors.

Shelbyville tacked on another run in the fourth, then two more in the fifth to take a commanding 9-4 lead. The Tigers would get one back in the home half of the fifth, but that would be the last run either team scored in the final matchup between these two for this season.

William Bobo continued his strong run of games at the plate, finishing 2-4 with an RBI, a triple,  and two runs scored. Caden Duggin went 1-3 with two RBIs and a walk while Stephen Bobo batted 2-4 and was hit by a pitch. Brody Lovvorn finished 2-5 with a pair of RBIs, and Palmer Edwards went 1-2 with an RBI and a walk. Blake Bone also recorded an RBI, finishing 0-2 at the plate with a walk. In all, the Golden Eagles used nine base hits, took advantage of four errors by the Tigers, and worked five walks en route to nine runs and an eighth-consecutive win this season.

Shelbyville travels to Columbia Central on Monday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. William Bobo (4-2, 4.20 ERA) is the projected starter for game one.
