SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles (25-8, 7-3) took down Franklin County (11-17, 4-6), 8-2, on Thursday night at the Eagles’ Nest.
Shelbyville’s offense worked a total of 10 walks and came up with seven base hits against Rebels’ pitching. Konner Lively started for Franklin County, working 3.0 innings and giving up five earned runs on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts on 57 pitches. James Colson Kelley came on in relief, lasting 0.2 innings while issuing three free passes on 24 pitches. Boston Benson pitched the final 2.1 innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on two hits and three walks while striking out two batters on 50 pitches.
For the Golden Eagles, Michael Estrada got the start on the mound, lasting 3.0 innings and giving up one unearned run on three hits while striking out five batters on 49 pitches. Caden Duggin came out of the bullpen to start the fourth, throwing 2.0 innings and giving up no runs with two walks and two strikeouts on 35 pitches. Palmer Edwards then pitched the sixth and seventh innings, giving up one unearned run on one hit while striking out four batters on 33 pitches.
Franklin County’s Gavin McBee led off the top of the first inning with a walk, coming around to score the first run of the game when Braden Jackson singled him home to put the Rebels ahead, 1-0.
In the home half, Shelbyville responded with three runs of its own to take a 3-1 lead. William Bobo, who went 2-2 at the plate with a double, two walks, one RBI, and one run scored, led off the bottom of the first to get the scoring started.
Neither team scored again until the Golden Eagles plated two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, then doubled up in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 7-1. After adding one more run in the sixth, Shelbyville held a commanding 8-1 lead with just three outs to go.
Franklin County’s Samuel Vincent managed to touch home plate safely in the top of the seventh inning following the only error of the night from the Golden Eagles to reach the final margin of 8-2.
At the plate for Shelbyville, Caden Duggin went 1-3 with an RBI, Stephen Bobo finished 1-2 with two walks and two runs scored, and Brody Lovvorn went 1-3 with an RBI, a walk, and a run scored. Caden Peacock worked a pair of walks as did Palmer Edwards, and Edwards recorded an RBI. Reager Edwards went 1-2 with an RBI and a walk, Elie Laye finished 1-4 with a run scored, and Michael Estrada was hit by a pitch and scored a pair of runs.
Shelbyville hosts Marshall County on Friday night with first-pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
