WINCHESTER, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles (2-0) used 11 hits to score eight runs in an 8-4 win in their first road game of the 2025 season at Franklin County (2-1) on Tuesday night.
Stephen Bobo got the start on the mound, and he gave up the only two hits that the Rebels mustered up all night. Bobo went 3.1 innings, giving up three runs with only one earned while striking out eight and walking three on 81 pitches. Ashton Whorley came on in relief initially, throwing 1.2 innings and striking out four while walking two on 34 pitches before Brody Lovvorn closed out the final two innings, giving up one unearned run and striking out a pair of batters while walking one on 39 pitches.
For Franklin County, Robert Gardner got the start, throwing just 3.0 innings. The Golden Eagles hit him well as Gardner gave up four runs with three earned on seven hits and one walk while striking out three batters on 49 pitches. Boston Benson came on in relief, going 1.1 innings and giving up a pair of unearned runs on two hits and one walk while striking out three on 36 pitches. Kingzli Wells was brought on in the fourth, lasting 1.2 innings while giving up one earned run on one hit and a walk while striking out two on 30 pitches. After Konner Lively failed to record an out on 10 pitches and gave up another run in the seventh, Noah Knapper finished out the final inning on eight pitches.
Neither team scored in the first inning, but the Golden Eagles quickly got going in the top of the second, scoring three runs to take a 3-0 lead into the third. Stephen Bobo had another monster night at the plate, going 3-3 with one RBI and a walk. In all, Shelbyville recorded 11 hits as a team, and nine different players recorded at least one base knock.
The Golden Eagles tacked on another run in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, but the Rebels did muster up a minor response with a pair of runs in the third and then another in the fourth before scratching across one more in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 6-4. Then, in the top of the seventh, Shelbyville responded with a pair of insurance runs before Lovvorn set down the Rebels in the home half to close out the four-run road win, 8-4.
Shelbyville improves to 2-0 and will travel to Marshall County on Thursday with Palmer Edwards scheduled to get the start on the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
