BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. – Kaegan Young scored 15 of her game-high 22 points in the second half, Cascade forced 16 turnovers from Chapel Hill, and the Lady Champions (7-8, 1-1) handed the upstart Lady Rockets (10-8, 1-1) their first District 9-AA loss of the season on Friday night, 58-42.

BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. – Kaegan Young scored 15 of her game-high 22 points in the second half, Cascade forced 16 turnovers from Chapel Hill, and the Lady Champions (7-8, 1-1) handed the upstart Lady Rockets (10-8, 1-1) their first District 9-AA loss of the season on Friday night, 58-42.
The Lady Champs shot 48.8% from the field, converted 13/17 free throws, and only committed six turnovers in a much-needed district win to get back on track. Sophie Ray complimented Young’s 22 points with 10 points of her own while Lizzie Keele swiped four steals, dished out four assists, and finished with six points in an impressive all-around performance for the hosts.
For Chapel Hill, Josie Brown led the way with 12 points on four three-pointers while Anna Rabun chipped in with 11 points of her own. Unfortunately, Kinslee Inlow went down with an apparent leg injury in the third quarter, but she was eventually able to walk under her own power, and even returned to the Lady Rockets bench late in the second half.
Cascade held Chapel Hill to just 34% shooting from the field and 24% from three (6/25) while forcing 16 turnovers.
Early on, however, the Lady Rockets were hanging around, trailing by just six points at the end of the first quarter, 15-9.
In the second quarter, Cascade marginally extended their lead. After outscoring Chapel Hill, 13-10, the Lady Champions took a 28-19 lead into the halftime locker room while receiving contributions in the points department from all seven players that touched the court in the first half.
Coming out for the second half, Cascade continued to turn up the heat on the Lady Rockets, outscoring Chapel Hill, 17-12, to take a 45-31 lead into the final frame.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Champs once again outscored the Lady Rockets, this time by two points, 13-11, to put the finishing touches on a 58-42 district victory.
Chapel Hill falls to 10-8 (1-1).
Cascade improves to 7-8 (1-1) and the Lady Champs are scheduled to travel to Unionville to take on Community in the “Battle of Bedford” on Tuesday night, LIVE on The Zinger 100.9 starting at 5:45 p.m.
