Manchester, Tenn. — In a rematch of Shelbyville Central’s (9-13, 4-2) District 9-AAAA opening win in OT, the Coffee County Raiders (9-12, 3-2) found some revenge on their home court, holding on in the fourth quarter to win by one point, 44-43.

Manchester, Tenn. — In a rematch of Shelbyville Central’s (9-13, 4-2) District 9-AAAA opening win in OT, the Coffee County Raiders (9-12, 3-2) found some revenge on their home court, holding on in the fourth quarter to win by one point, 44-43.
Brady Wright and Cayden Trail tied for a team-high 15 points on the night while MJ Rollman chipped in with 10 points of his own. All 15 from Wright came in the second half, including connecting on 3/4 free throws late in the fourth quarter.
For Shelbyville, Jevon Lee led the way with a game-high 23 points, but he was held to just two points in the fourth quarter. Tae’Shawn Shelton was the next highest scorer with eight points.
To start, Coffee County jumped out to a 13-3 lead after the opening period. Shelton connected on the only made field-goal for Shelbyville in the frame while Trail led all scorers with six points.
In the second period, the Golden Eagles quickly got back in the game, going on an extended run to actually take a two-point lead going into the halftime locker room, 23-21. Lee completely took over in the quarter, scoring 15 points to lead Shelbyville’s 20-8 run before the break.
Coming out for the second half, Wright scored 12 of his 15 points in the third quarter to put Coffee County back in front, 37-34, entering the final frame. Lee scored five points while Jordan Taylor connected from downtown for his only made field-goal of the game.
In the fourth quarter, Coffee County scored just seven points, but Wright made just enough free throws to preserve the Raiders’ lead. Lee was only able to score two points in the period, and in the end, Shelbyville just couldn’t connect on that final shot to escape with the win. Coffee County picked up their third district win instead, earning a split in the season series, 44-43.
Shelbyville falls to 9-13 (4-2) but will return home on Tuesday night to take on the district leaders, Warren County, LIVE on WLIJ 98.7 and AM 1580 starting at 5:45 p.m.
